Ok...it's a little nerve racking...
Catching up a bit from the last bee related post. Over the past couple of weeks...
Cath and M went to Dancing Bee Equipment in Port Hope and bought a full brood box, nuc and all the bits to make a complete 2nd hive. They picked up the hive + bees late one evening and had to drive back to Wildwood in the dark. Cath thought that they were going to tape up the hive while transporting it, but they were advised not to because the bees might overheat...so they drove back with an "open" hive full of bees in the car!!! Now...it's just the regular slot open and the bees were done for the day...but still....yikes! Unfortunately there was a mix up with the parts so they had to go back to get all the right bits and pieces.
The new hive was placed just off to the sunny side of the first hive. After much angst that the first hive might not have a queen, Cath and M were able to find her and it seemed like it was doing quite well.
M's claimed the first hive as her own!
